FIRA Testing

In March 2017, FLAT’s newly-launched Equalizers and FLAT’s Table Bases and hydraulic PADS received serious examination at FIRA International’s world-renowned testing facility. The products went through a range of grueling tests designed to measure their performance relating to safety, strength, stability and durability. FIRA (the Furniture Industry Research Association) tested our products as part of the BS EN581-1:2006 & BS EN581-3:2017 (Contract Level) certification process.

In addition to our in-house testing, FIRA tested our PAD and Equalizers thoroughly and independently, ensuring that our products are class-leading.

FIRA is recognised as a world leader in furniture testing and BS EN581-1 & 3 are the most applicable tests of our table stabilisation technologies.

The FIRA setup is impressive.  Their testing facility is located just outside of London, UK; machines, robots and other devices are repeatedly prodding, pressing, impacting, dragging, opening and closing a whole range of fixtures, fittings and furniture designed for use in both residential and commercial environments.

Following the extensive testing process, both FLAT Equalizers and our FLAT Table Bases and PADs were both successfully certified to BS EN581-1:2006 & BS EN581-3:2017 (Contract Level) standards.

Mike Drake (FLAT’s Managing Director) said “This certification validates the value for money that FLAT Equalizers and our table bases represent.  It gives piece of mind to customers, knowing that our products are designed to last in tough environments. I’d like to congratulate our engineering team for this achievement and for the continuous improvements and developments that go into our products.”
